Import video to Photoshop issues
A: I am trying to import an HD .avi file to Photoshop CS4 but only get a white screen. The animation timeline shows the length of the clip, but the preview shows only white. Any ideas?
B: Every time I try and import an .mov file into Photoshop to make GIF, a message pops up. It says: "Could not complete the Video Frames To Layers command because the movie file could not be opened." Does anyone know how to fix this?
C: I'm trying to put an .mp4 file into Photoshop CS5, but whenever I try it says "Could not complete the request because it is not the right kind of document." I've tried File - Open and File - Import - Video Frames to Layers. Help?
Solution to import video files to Photoshop
If you want to work with a video clip in Photoshop, no matter CS4, CS5 or CS6, you need to make sure you have the latest and greatest version of QuickTime. If you’re using a Mac, you’ve probably already got it; if you’re on a PC, you can download it free from www.apple.com/quicktime. If QuickTime can open any play the video Photoshop should be able to as well.
