Import Sony PMW-200 to FCP X
As the successor to Sony’s well respected PMW-EX1/R, the PMW-200 can be used for both SD and HD applications. It can be set to record 50Mbps XDCAM HD format MXF files with MPEG HD422 codec on UDF formatted cards or you can set the camcorder for FAT mode recording to shoot SxS cards which are compatible with the XDCAM EX format MP4 files. For SD applications you can make DVCAM recordings as either MXF files or XDCAM EX compatible files.

Final Cut Pro can ingest and export XDCAM HD and XDCAM EX using third-party Sony XDCAM Transfer software. And editing XDCAM HD or XDCAM EX requires Easy Setup corresponding to your format.

With the above mentioned instructions, you can easily import Sony PMW-200 to Final Cut Pro. However, when choosing a render file format for the XDCAM HD or XDCAM EX sequence, you may find that rendering native MPEG-2 takes longer than for other formats.
